Once again, we had the opportunity to conduct training for attorneys at law from the Katowice Bar. Last year, Mr. Sroczynski spoke about competition law, and on 11 May 2021, Dr. Michał Markiewicz presented the boundaries between plagiarism and inspiration in copyright law. We would like to thank Dean Zbigniew Głodny for the invitation, our Colleague Tomasz Ogłódek for organisational assistance, and all our Colleagues from the Katowice Bar, which is not only geographically close to us, for their participation and activity.

Our law firm and Mr. Jaroslaw Sroczynski, as in the past years, have received nominations in three legal rankings – Chambers Europe 2021, WHO’S WHO LEGAL 2020 and Global Competition Review (GCR 100) 2021, in the field of competition law.

We inform with deep regret that Professor Janusz Barta, associated with our law firm since its establishment, has passed away on February 27, 2021. Professor Barta was our mentor, a warm and kind man, full of wisdom and humor. He will always remain in our memory.

Wolters Kluwer Publishing House has published a 2-volume publication edited by Prof. Ryszard Markiewicz – “Copyright Laws. Commentaries”, 2020. The publication comprehensively discusses three interconnected acts: on copyright and related rights, on protection of databases and on collective management of copyright and related rights. Our lawyers: dr Michał Markiewicz, dr Sybilla Stanisławska-Kloc, dr Jakub Chwalba and dr hab. Michał Wyrwiński are co-authors of this publications.

On November 17 and December 8, 2020, Jarosław Sroczyński conducted training courses for attorneys at law, members of the District Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Katowice. The subject of the training sessions was competition law, and in particular the issues of prohibited agreements, abuse of a dominant position, concentration control, penalties imposed by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection, as well as antitrust and appeal procedures. Several hundred participants, Colleagues from the Katowice Bar, participated in the trainings.

On November 30, 2020, Jarosław Sroczyński gave a lecture at the 12th Competition Law Congress, organized by Puls Biznesu. The topic of the speech was “Three decades of the OCCP – ten most important decisions (subjective review)”. The decisions of the President of the OCCP were recalled and discussed, such as FSO, Wrigley Polska, Górażdże Cement, Dekra, Roche Polska, and Sfinks Polska.

On October 27-28, 2020, the VII^th International Consumer Conference “Complaints, mediations and other proceedings in consumer matters” was organised by the Association of Consumer Ombudsmen and the Economic University of Cracow. Mr. Sroczyński was speaking in a panel on consumer proceedings in matters relating to everyday use products.
