On April 22, 2010, Jarosław Sroczyński presented a lecture “Class Actions: overview of the legal nature and practical application of this institution in other countries”, at a Conference entitled “Class actions – a new step towards enforcement of the protection of consumers”. The Conference was devoted to various legal issues of class actions, introduced in the Polish court law by the Law of December 17, 2009 on the Enforcement of Claims in Group Proceedings, which will enter into force on July 19, 2010. The Conference was organized in Warsaw by Wolters Kluwer Poland, under the honorary patronage of the Polish Bar Association.

On April 14, 2010, a workshop “Distribution Agreements” was held in Warsaw, devoted to competition law issues. The workshop, organized by Business Media Solutions, grouped representatives of legal and trade departments of various businesses. Jarosław Sroczyński presented a lecture entitled “Dealing with Everyone? The choice of partner and resale freedom in distribution agreements”.

Our lawyer, Ms. Katarzyna Kaperczak co-authored a book on private international law and international civil procedure, published in April 2010 by Wolters Kluwer. The book comprehensively covers basic legal issues, combining theory with tests and cases. Authors recommend it to law students, legal counsel and advocate candidates and trainees.

On February 1, 2010 a seminar was held by the recently established Institute for Law and Society, hosted by the Batory Foundation, on “Analyses and recommendations on selection and appointment processes for the Justices of the Polish Constitutional Tribunal, enforcement and execution of judgments handed down by the Tribunal and communication of the Tribunal with the public”. At the inauguration of the Institute’s activity to promote the education of lawyers as a tool of the new law reforms, Katarzyna Kaperczak, our legal assistant, delivered a presentation of her project on common law judgments, which were translated by students of the American Law Program at the Jagiellonian University.
