On October 19, 2020, during the Book Congress organized as a part of this year’s Conrad Festival, Dr. Michał Markiewicz in conversation with Mr. Zygmunt Miłoszewski, discussed the most common mistakes made by authors when concluding copyright contracts. Our law firm, under the leadership of Dr. Markiewicz prepared model contracts for authors (for books, author’s texts, adaptations and author’s meetings), which were made available to all interested parties during the festival week.

In the recent Jagiellonian University Journal of IP Law (No. 149), an article of Zuzanna Ochońska has been published on “Protection of Enterprise Secrets in Proceedings in Commercial and Intellectual property Cases”. Zuzanna discusses, among other things, the practical aspects of the procedure of secrecy of data which a party to the proceedings has been summoned to submit, and which constitute confidential business secrets. On 28 November 2019, Jarosław Sroczyński gave a lecture at the seminar of the Association of Corporate Counsel Europe (ACC) – an organization of corporate lawyers. The speech concerned practical aspects of the definition of the relevant market in antitrust law and inspections of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection. The seminar took place at the University of Economics in Katowice.

A report entitled „Implementing a Competition Law System – Three Decades of Polish Experience” has been published by Dr. Marek Martyniszyn of Queen’s University Belfast and Prof. Maciej Bernatt of the Warsaw University. The report is an extensive study of the state of the Polish competition law, since its implementation thirty years ago until the present times. The research has been conducted in the years 201-2018 and includes interviews with numerous persons engaged in the creation and development of Polish competition law, and among them Jaroslaw Sroczynski as the first director of the Antimonopoly Office in Cracow and long-time practitioner of competition law. The research was funded by the Oxford Noble Foundation, within the framework of its Programme on Modern Poland, by means of a competitive grant award to Dr. Marek Martyniszyn in 2016.
