Jarosław Sroczyński published an article on consumer protection on the electronic payments market

The Foundation for the Jagiellonian University has issued a post-conference book on “The increasing role of citizens – Policy of the European Union on consumer protection”. In the above-mentioned book, Mr. Sroczyński published an article entitled “Consumer on the market of electronic payments – the need for changes”. This article is an extended version of a presentation by Mr. Sroczyński during the related conference, organized on September 21, 2012 by the Foundation for the Jagiellonian University and the Department of Law and Administration of the Jagiellonian University. The article discusses the issues of barriers that exist in the banking sector and which hamper development of the market for so-called instant electronic payments. This form of payments is competitive as compared to other forms of electronic payments, and consumers can benefit from the gains achieved by internet shops.

J. Sroczynski published an article on the protection of collective consumer interests

01_sroczynski_naruszenieOn April 21, 2012 an opening number of a new on-line periodical called “The Internet Antimonopoly and Regulatory Quarterly” (iKAR 1(1)/2012) has been published by the Centre for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies (CARS) of the University of Warsaw. The first iKAR appears exactly on the fifth anniversary of the entry date of the Law of February 16, 2007 on the Protection of Competition and Consumers. It is devoted entirely to an analysis of various aspects of functioning of that Law, in the context of its major changes announced recently by the OCCP’s President. Jaroslaw Sroczynski contributed to the first iKAR an article entitled “Violation of collective consumer interests: commitment decisions (practical remarks and de lege ferenda proposals)”. Article by Michał Markiewicz on „Protection of correspondence under civil law”

Our lawyer, Mr. Michał Markiewicz published an article in “Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Prace z Prawa Własności Intelektualnej” (issue 1 (115) 2012) entitled „Protection of correspondence under civil law”. The article describes the prevailing conception of correspondence protection and indicates the need to liberalise it. To this end, a proposal of new interpretation of legal regulations was presented. The article covers personal rights matters as well as the Polish Copyright Act regulations.
