Our lawyer, Mr. Michał Markiewicz published an article in “Zeszyty Naukowe Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego. Prace z Prawa Własności Intelektualnej” (issue 1 (115) 2012) entitled „Protection of correspondence under civil law”. The article describes the prevailing conception of correspondence protection and indicates the need to liberalise it. To this end, a proposal of new interpretation of legal regulations was presented. The article covers personal rights matters as well as the Polish Copyright Act regulations.

On March 14, 2012 Łukasz Wieczorek delivered a lecture at the Institute of Intellectual Property Law of the Jagiellonian University as part of the “IP Student” Workshop for students of the Jagiellonian University’s Faculty of Law and Administration. The lecture was devoted to the concept of collective dominance in antimonopoly law and practical aspects of its application.

On March 21, 2012 Piotr Suski delivered a lecture at the Institute of Intellectual Property Law of the Jagiellonian University in the “IP Student” Workshop for students of the Jagiellonian University’s Faculty of Law and Administration. The lecture addressed the issue of practices violating collective consumer interests consisting in an application of the prohibited contract clauses.

On March 7, 2012 Jarosław Sroczyński delivered a lecture at the Institute of Intellectual Property Law of the Jagiellonian University in the “IP Student” Workshop for students of the university’s Faculty of Law and Administration. The lecture addressed the issue of combating unfair market practices in the system of competition and consumer laws.

The Minister of Administration and Digitization organized on March 5, 2012, the Congress on Freedom in the Internet, which has taken place in the Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw. The subject of the Congress was, inter alia, discussion over legal issues of the free use of the Internet, open access and the digital business. Prof. Ryszard Markiewicz was invited to participate as leader of the debate devoted to agreements between authors, intermediaries and users of the copyrightable content.

Michał Markiewicz has won the 9th National Ski and Snowboard Championships of Legal Counselors and Legal Counselors Trainees, which took place on march 1-4, 2012 in Krynica Zdrój. He achieved the best time of the competition winning both categories: “under 35 years old” and “open”.
