On April 23, 2013 the International Bar Association hosted a conference in Warsaw. The conference was organized in connection with this year’s meeting of the International Competition Network in Poland. The conference was devoted to the new challenges and enforcement tools in competition law. Jarosław Sroczyński delivered a presentation entitled “Sanctions for individuals: one step forward, two steps backward?”. He commented on the project of amendments to the Polish competition law which implements administrative sanctions for persons who manage the undertakings.

In the March issue of “Radca Prawny” an article has been published, covering the 10th National Ski and Snowboard Championships of Legal Counselors and Legal Counselors Trainees, which took place in Krynica Zdrój. The competition has been won by our lawyer Michał Markiewicz who was the quickest of all competitors winning both categories: “open” and “under 35 years old”. In this way, he defended the title obtained in the previous season.

On March 19, 2013 Jarosław Sroczyński participated in a conference entitled “Charging slot allowances in Poland. The need to change or to interpret the law?”. Mr. Sroczyński was a speaker in a discussion panel devoted to the economic issues of prohibition of slot allowances (so-called “shelf fees”) pursuant to the Unfair Competition Law. In his presentation, Mr. Sroczyński concentrated on “retroactive rebates” and their qualification as slot allowances, questioning the “creeping” approach of the jurisprudence, which tends to subject more and more usual business relations to the above prohibition. The conference, organized by the Center for Antitrust and Regulatory Studies of the Management Department of the Warsaw University (CARS), grouped numerous legal theoreticians and practitioners as well as representatives of sellers and suppliers interested in the legal matters of slot allowances.

On March 5-6, 2013, a workshop „Competition law – new developments and existing problems and their impact on functioning of the market” was held in Warsaw, organized by MM Conferences. Jaroslaw Sroczynski presented a lecture entitled “The description of most common competition law violations”, while Katarzyna Lesko presented a lecture entitled “Effective preparation for the inspection of the OCCP”.

Michał Markiewicz has become the Polish National Ski Champion of Legal Counselors and Legal Counselors Trainees, for the second time in a row. The Championships took place between February 28 and March 3, 2013 in Krynica Zdrój. Once again Michał achieved the best time of the competition, winning both categories: “open” and “under 35 years old”.

On February 28, 2013 Łukasz Wieczorek delivered a lecture for participants of the workshop entitled „Contracts in energy and gas sector. The latest legal regulations”, which was held in Warsaw on 27-28 February 2013. The workshop was organized by training firm Nowoczesna Firma. Łukasz Wieczorek presented a lecture on “Inadmissible clauses in contracts for energy sector”. The workshop was directed, in particular, to representatives of undertakings operating in the electricity, heat and gas sectors.

His article “Architecture against outdoor advertising” addresses the problem of negative impact that outdoor advertisement has on esthetics of public space and architecture, presenting solutions to protect architect’s interests.
